Weekend workshop: Urban Sketching

A Little Drawing Safari

Two days of exploring and drawing in and around Amsterdam. At the most beautiful locations in Amsterdam. Accessible by public transport and a public toilet nearby.

The weekend course is suitable for the novice artist as a first introduction to drawing on location, but also for the experienced student who wants to develop further in this area.

Dare to sketch quickly. Sketch without looking at the paper. Follow with your hands what your eyes see. Keep your pencil on the paper. City life, people in the surroundings. Look at the changing light. What is an exciting section? How do I make a drawing three-dimensional?

During this weekend you will receive tips about useful materials that are suitable for drawing on location.

And a materials list for this weekend well in advance.

We look at artists who work 'au plein air': the old masters such as Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Jacoba van Heemskerk and contemporary artists such as David Hockney, Astrid Kemper (Vriendin and Urban Sketcher, Dsld)
